Institute for Justice: Fighting Waxahachie’s dumpster monopoly
The Institute for Justice — the national public-interest law firm behind some of the country’s biggest economic-liberty cases — is representing founder Josh Roman in a lawsuit challenging the City of Waxahachie’s exclusive construction-dumpster monopoly. The city handed one national waste company the sole right to rent roll-off construction dumpsters inside city limits, then threatened contractors who used ours with fines of up to $2,000 per day. The Texas Constitution says “monopolies are contrary to the genius of a free government, and shall never be allowed.” We agree — and we’re fighting it.
