Ellis County has added roughly 48,000 people in five years and built a wedding industry out of barns, ranches and old gins. Most of it sits on open ground outside city limits, which is where the county’s own rules start to matter and where a trailer with 200 gallons of its own water earns its keep.
Forreston to Ennis, Midlothian to Red Oak. These are working properties with big guest counts and a lot of ground between the ceremony site and the building.
Six hundred acres of wooded land, hosting up to 300 guests. Six hundred acres is the single strongest argument in this county for bringing restrooms to where the people actually are. On a property that size, the walk back to the building is the problem, not the building.
Firefly Gardens runs up to 250 guests across eight acres of landscaped countryside with a pergola garden and koi pond. Bella Woods seats 300. Both publish what the property holds. Neither publishes how many fixtures serve it, which is true of every venue in this county.
The Greenhouse at Hi-Berger Ranch at 300, Winding Brooks at 250 and The Telico Gin at 250 — a former cotton gin turned event space. Three venues in one town, all of them at or near the 250-guest mark where a single building’s restrooms stop keeping up with a five-hour reception.
The Hamptons Event Venue in Red Oak publishes 440 guests, the largest capacity we found anywhere in the county. Stone Canyon Ranch runs 200, Arrowwood in Palmer 200. All of it inside an easy run from our Waxahachie yard.
The county’s recurring events run on open ground, farm roads and downtown squares rather than in buildings.
April 1 through 30, 2026 — more than 40 miles of mapped driving trails sponsored by the Ennis Garden Club. The 1997 Texas Legislature named Ennis the home of the Official Texas Bluebonnet Trail and the Official Bluebonnet City of Texas. A month-long event spread across county roads is a very different sanitation problem from a single field.
Memorial Day weekend in downtown Ennis, 57 years running, across street venues and air-conditioned halls. The Bluebonnet Trails Festival takes downtown Ennis April 17 through 19, 2026.
March 27 through April 4, 2026, with PRCA-sanctioned rodeo nights on the 27th and 28th, youth livestock, ag mechanics and creative arts judging, ending with the Sale of Champions. Nine days is a service schedule, not a drop-off.
Ellis County reached 240,867 people as of July 2025, up 25.2% since 2020, with 84,743 housing units. Midlothian alone is up 33.1% to 46,683. A 3,300-acre development south of US-287 near FM 663 is planned with roughly 8,500 single-family homes and its own event pavilion.
Full build sheet — tank capacities, dimensions, power, weight — plus interior photos and a calculator that runs your guest count and hours against published code tables to tell you whether four suites is enough. All of it on the main trailer page rather than repeated here.
See Specs & Size Your EventThis is the part almost nobody in this market knows, and it only applies in the unincorporated county — not to a private 250-guest wedding inside a city.
Texas Administrative Code Title 25, Section 265.3 sets minimum standards for mass gatherings: toilet facilities at a rate of no more than 50 persons per toilet seat, separated and labelled by sex, shielded from public view, with handwashing and drying facilities in the vicinity of each toilet location, and portable toilet waste collected often enough to prevent overflow.
The county’s Mass Gathering Permit is filed with the County Judge’s office 45 days before the event, with a $250 fee for events of 2,500 or more, and directs applicants to follow the minimum standards of 25 TAC 265.3 for water supply and toilet facilities. The county publishes no ratio of its own — it points at the state’s.
Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 751 covers gatherings held outside municipal limits that draw more than 2,500 people, or more than 500 where most attendees are under 21 and alcohol is served, and that run more than five continuous hours. A 250-guest barn wedding is not a mass gathering. We will not tell you otherwise to sell units.
The City of Ennis drops its special event permit threshold from 100 attendees to 50 if the event includes any of five things — and placing portable restrooms is one of them. Ennis publishes no count either, but putting a unit on public property is itself the trigger.
The trailer handles the guests you want it to handle. For overflow, vendors, crew, or the ADA units a permitted event requires, we run standard portable restrooms and hand wash stations off the same yard — and roll-off dumpsters if the site needs those too.

Our yard is in Waxahachie, so the whole county is a short run. Travel is quoted before you book rather than published as a flat radius.
Somewhere not on this list? Call it in — we travel further for a long-term placement than we do for a Saturday. See the full trailer page.
The things planners and contractors here actually ask before they book.
Almost certainly not. That standard sits in 25 TAC 265.3 and applies to mass gatherings — broadly, events outside city limits drawing more than 2,500 people and running more than five continuous hours. A 250-guest wedding is not that. We would rather tell you the rule does not apply than sell you units against it.
The trailer carries 200 gallons of fresh water on board, so water is usually solved. Power is the one to settle early — it runs on 30-amp shore power, and where a property cannot get to that we arrange a generator at booking rather than on the day.
Yes. The whole county is a short run from the Waxahachie yard. Tell us the property and we will tell you what the drop looks like, including whether a truck can get the trailer where you want it.
We have one trailer. On a Saturday in April, May or October in Ellis County, it goes to whoever books first. If you have a date, call early.
On firm, level ground, yes — and most of this county’s venues are exactly that. Soft ground after rain is the real limit, along with gate width and any low branches on the path in. We will walk the access with you on the phone before the truck leaves.
Yes, and Ellis County has plenty of it. Longer placements are quoted differently from weekend events and the service frequency is set to the crew, not to a single Saturday.
Barns, ranches, gins and open ground, served off a yard in Waxahachie. Onboard water, four private suites, and a straight answer about which rules actually apply to you.
